PSG Volunteers
- The Bukit Panjang Government High School (BPGHS) Parent Support Group (PSG) is a volunteer organization made up of parents who are dedicated to supporting the school in the holistic development of our children. This PSG is managed by an Executive Committee (EXCO).
- The functions of the EXCO shall be to:
- promote a collaborative relationship between parents and the school
- garner the support of parents to volunteer their services in the organization and implementation of school programmes, projects and events
- plan and organize programmes and activities (e.g. talks, sharing sessions) to support the holistic development of students
- support parents in their parenting journey via suitable avenues
- represent the parent body to show appreciation of the teachers’ efforts

Organization of EXCO
- Members of the EXCO consist of a Chairperson, Vice‐Chairperson, Hon Secretary, Hon Treasurer, Web Master and not more than 25 other members.
- School Leaders (P/VP) and Teacher In Charge will be invited to attend PSG EXCO meetings as and when required.
- The EXCO may comprise not more than 5 members whose children have graduated from the school.
- Nomination into EXCO shall be proposed by Chairperson and seconded by Vice-Chairperson or by another EXCO member.
- Nomination of new/additional committee members may be effected and approved at EXCO meetings.
- All suitable key office bearers in the EXCO shall be elected either by the Chairperson or Vice-Chairperson or any EXCO members.
- The EXCO may from time to time appoint sub‐committees from its PSG members to carry out programmes or projects.
Period of Appointment
- Office‐bearer appointment period to the EXCO shall be for a period of 2 years.
- The term of office shall start 1st January of the first year of appointment and end on 31st December of the following year.
- In case of resignation of an office‐bearer, the Chairperson, in consultation with the PSG Teacher in Charge or School Leaders and fellow EXCO members, shall appoint another EXCO member to serve out the affected role for the remaining duration of the term.
EXCO Meetings
- The EXCO must meet at least 4 times a year
- Meetings of the EXCO shall be presided over by the Chairperson or, in the absence of the Chairperson, will be the Vice‐Chairperson
- Meetings shall be convened by the Hon Secretary in consultation with the Chairperson
- Notice of meeting should be given 7 days ahead. The date, time, venue and agenda of meeting shall be included in the notice
- A meeting shall be convened before expiry of the term of office of the EXCO to appoint the key appointments
- All issues arising at an EXCO meeting or Sub‐committee meeting should be decided by a majority of members. Voting can either be a show of hands or secret ballot if requested by any EXCO member. In case of a tie in number of votes, the presiding Chairperson or Vice Chairperson shall have a deciding vote.
Duties & Responsibilities Chairperson
- To provide leadership for the EXCO and be responsible for the proper conduct of business at all the EXCO meetings
- To liaise with school leaders or school management and Teacher Co‐ordinator on all school programmes, projects, events that PSG is involved in
- To set the agenda for meetings and manage meetings in line with the agenda
- To vet &approve minutes prepared by Honorary Secretary
- To endorse the Committee Budget proposed by Honorary Treasurer and approved by EXCO
- To welcome & involve new members.
Vice Chairperson
- To support the Chairperson and assist the Chairperson in the performance of his/ her duties and perform the duties of the Chairperson in the absence of the Chairperson
- To ensure that the Committee and all the events continue to run smoothly.
- To chair meeting in the absence of the Chairperson
- To liaise with school management and Teacher Co‐ordinator on all school programmes, projects, events that PSG is involved in
- To attend all PSG Meetings
- To welcome & involve new members.
Honorary Secretary
- To attend all PSG meetings and keep minutes, and maintain custody of all documents and records of the EXCO
- To prepare and distribute agenda for meetings
- To take minutes of meetings and distribute them
- To prepare and distribute publicity/ communications flyers & posters
- To maintain the chat‐group / email database of PSG members
Honorary Treasurer
- To manage and maintain an up‐to‐date record that reflects the latest financial position of the PSG cash account balance. These include:
- maintaining up‐to‐date records of financial transactions, receipts and payment procedures
- managing accounts, including issuing receipts and making payment on behalf of the PSG
- preparing and providing updates of financial status and matters at PSG meetings.
- To attend all PSG Meetings.
Web‐Master
- To manage and update the PSG website/social media on a regular basis.
- To attend all PSG Meetings.
PSG EXCO Committee Members
- To work alongside with the key officer bearers
- To attend all PSG Meetings
- To serve in sub‐Committees to plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate projects, including events, workshops, lectures, meetings, exhibitions or other activities for the benefit of fellow PSG members and/ or BPGHS students
- To encourage participation in all PSG‐organised activities.
PSG Volunteers
- To support and serve in various school organised programmes, projects, events& PSG‐initiated activities
- To share, contribute services, knowledge, expertise or time to the school for benefit of BPGHS students and/ or fellow PSG members.
